Our take: back-to-back 11-win seasons are real and shouldn't be dismissed, but a 20.1% chance to even win your own division is a genuinely humbling number for a team some analysts are picking to win the whole Super Bowl. The AFC West is the best division in football top to bottom this year — Los Angeles has to actually beat Denver and Kansas City twice each before any bigger conversation matters. A rookie starting at center in the opener is its own real variable up front, and Herbert's new numbers with McDaniel calling plays won't mean much if the division race gets decided by those head-to-head games regardless.
